#21 Puddle Pods - half-deleting apps
Give yourself a weekend break from your most toxic phone habit
(1 min)
I don’t know about you, but my brain is conditioned to CONSTANTLY press the bottom part of my phone screen.
It is like my finger knows the exact location of my Emails, Slack and Twitter.
As soon as I open up my phone, my finger magically taps on the same location on the phone.
…and there goes 20mins of scrolling and swiping until I realise what just happened.
I guess that’s okay when I’m working, as I’m constantly on Emails, Slack and (well) Twitter.
BUT on the weekend I REALLY DON’T need to be checking them every 5mins.
🫶 Give yourself a break. Break the habit circuit.
The circuit breaker for me is every weekend.
As soon as I’m done for the week on a Friday evening.
❌ I delete the apps off my home screen.
They are gone.
I whip up the phone, tap the familiar location.
Nothing happens.
“OH! It is a weekend, there is nothing on Slack or Emails for me to check. Good!”
Tip: the app isn't fully gone from your phone, just off your homescreen. So on Monday morning, scroll all the way to the right, find the app, long-click and “add to homescreen”. Ta-da! 🥳
